A message of welcome from the Director General:

Welcome, my friends. It is with profound satisfaction that I address you now, at the beginnings of both the second decade of my captaincy and the eighth decade of our esteemed Institute.

My term as Director General faced inauspicious beginning. Our Institute, and the nation of its birth, received a terrible blow. In one stroke our brightest minds were taken from us and the fruits of half a century’s labor were decimated.

Still, one must bowl the pitch one is given. To choose the easy path is not our way, for we work, not for ourselves, but for mankind. Never before, in the history of our species, have we faced so grave a threat from so many enemies both within and without. Today, we fear neither the soldier’s gun nor the terrorist’s bomb. Our enemies are those who wield the human mind as a weapon.

But there is hope. The Suvorov Institute stands stronger than ever. We have expanded our operations and inserted facilities in more countries than ever before. We have rebuilt our New York branch, and, through the herculean efforts of both the Archives and Special Projects departments, we are pursuing a plan to preserve the legacy of our founders forever. We have recovered much that was thought lost. We stood upon the precipice but did not fall.

My friends, we bear the marks of our trial not as scars but as laurels. As this new millennium dawns, we come to the crease with a firm step, our brow sternly set, with the determination, no, the assurance, that we shall not be caught out again.

It is my privilege to lead you, as it is your honor to follow. It is with a pride and certainty that concede no doubt that I say, everyone will do his duty, now, for the future.
